As a special event volunteer, you’ll be an essential part of helping The Women’s Resource operate! Volunteers are an important, valuable part of every fundraising event we host. They help with setup, guest check in, and donation collection to help us ensure we raise the most money we can, and spread word of our mission successfully. Not only are fundraising events a hugely important part of what brings our services to women and girls in need, they are also a fun way to get engaged. You’ll work with other volunteers, get to meet like-minded people, and attend events for free! But most importantly, when you become a Special Event Volunteer, you do meaningful work toward changing lives in our community. That’s something we can all get excited about!

FAQs

Someone from our team will then contact you with more information, including information about any upcoming orientations for the job(s) you’ve selected.

Yes, it is a requirement that we run background screenings on all volunteers. Volunteers are asked to check a box on the Volunteer Application which gives us permission to run a background screening using the information provided on their application. Volunteers must clear our Background Screening process to volunteer. This is an important measure we take to ensure the safety of our clients, partners, volunteers and staff.

YLFC Volunteer Opportunities are offered throughout the year, Monday thru Friday, during the day and in the evening. We occasionally have opportunities to volunteer on Saturdays, but not often.

Classes are one hour long; however, volunteers should also account for the time needed to pick up their class materials from The Women’s Resource office, travel to and from the class location, and prepare for the class beforehand.

Our classes do not take place at our office, but rather throughout the city of Houston. Click here to view our list of partners.

We require volunteers to teach a minimum of four YourLife Finance Classes a year.
