Christine has led The Women’s Resource since 2014. She is a passionate advocate for social equality and has devoted her career to helping the underserved in her community. Christine began her career with the YMCA, eventually working her way up to an Executive Director. There she had the unique opportunity to work on a national pilot project with the Institute of Healthcare Improvement and Stanford University challenging attitudes and beliefs around health and wellness in underserved communities.
Christine opened one of the organization's first apartment outreach sites at the Vista Del Sol Apartments in Pasadena, Texas. This outreach model proved so successful that it has been replicated in several of the city's most disadvantaged apartment communities.
Most recently, Christine worked with the Houston Area Women's Center as the Director of Corporation, Foundation, and Government Relations. There she led the growth of both private and government funding for the state's largest domestic and sexual violence agency.
Kelly believes in the power of education and has dedicated her career to ensuring Houstonians have access to the support and education they need to achieve their goals. Kelly leads The Women’s Resource program team and oversees The Women’s Resource YourLife programs and RISE! program. Since joining The Women’s Resource in 2011 she has helped expand and develop new programs and add additional program staff to increase impact and better meet the needs of women and girls.
Before coming to The Women's Resource, Kelly worked for TRIO Student Support Services at San Jacinto College for seven years, where she supported low-income students, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities through her work. At San Jacinto College she helped launch the Mental Health Services Program and taught Introduction to Social Work. She also taught social work and psychology courses for high school students as a part of TRIO Upward Bound. Kelly is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She holds an MSW from the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station.
Senior Program Director
Jessika Davidson is a native Houstonian and cause-based communicator with over 5 years of experience crafting and implementing marketing strategies and digital transformation for nonprofits across the country.
She strives to live her life on the principle "to whom much is given, much is required" and marries her passion for marketing with a spirit of service in her work. Before coming to the Women’s Resource, Jessika was an independent communications consultant, working on a range of digital communications projects across various areas of advocacy.
Her recent work includes being on the leadership teams of two of the largest social movements in modern history, working as the Director of Communications for the National March for Science and a media consultant for Pantsuit Nation. Jessika is a proud alumna of Stephen F. Austin State University. When she’s not at work, she’s spending time with her husband Brandon and their 4-year old rescue terrier Riley or enjoying Houston’s culinary scene, in search of the perfect taco.
Communications and Development Director
A native of the Midwest, Shalanya has over 15 years’ experience in the non-profit field. Her background includes nonprofit management, teaching, community organizing and human services management. She received a Master’s in Management from Cardinal Stritch University.
Growing up in Gary IN, she witnessed first-hand how the decades of disinvestment tore down the social fabric of her community. She believes to become effective at advocating for an issue that you are passionate about, that you have to “find” your voice and use it! Her experiences at home inspired her to become an organizer to impact social change and to help rebuild her community.
Shalanya is committed to developing the leadership, knowledge, and skills of individuals to lead community-identified solutions that address the root causes of crime and poverty in order to create a thriving community. The most rewarding part of her job has been getting to witness the growth and development of individuals holistically. She loves connecting people and helping them to add their voice to causes that they are passionate about. Her spare time is consumed with enjoying family, especially her husband and granddaughters.
Fun Fact: Shalanya loves to cook and believes that spaghetti is the perfect “side” for fish!
YourLife Program Manager
Porschia is a Michigan native, born and raised in Flint, MI, but has been a proud member of the Houston community since 2015. She believes in the power of helping others realize they have a voice and that it matters through education and advocacy.
She is a long time member of the NAACP dating back to college and has continued the work of the association in Houston for the last four years serving on the Houston branch’s young adult committee.
Before coming to the Women’s Resource, Porschia worked in retail logistics and distribution with both Target and Amazon until realizing that her passion for serving and advocating in the community should be her full-time work.
Porschia holds an Executive Masters of Public Administration from Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Eastern Michigan University. She enjoys going to live sporting events and concerts, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
RISE! Program Manager
Katrina has a passion for encouraging others to live their best life, and believes financial literacy is instrumental to self-empowerment and independence. An avid volunteer, she devotes time to numerous organizations, and also instructs financial literacy classes as a RISE! Facilitator.
Prior to joining The Women’s Resource, Katrina worked in the areas of finance and project management. She garnered her financial aptitude while educating and advising clients within real estate and banking. During her career in the oil & gas industry, Katrina directed international projects which increased the efficiency of deep-water campaigns.
Katrina graduated from the University of Houston, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. She is a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters and a member of the World Affairs Council. Katrina spends her leisure time exploring the arts, enjoying delectable foods, and seeking adventure and new experiences across the globe.
Shanquela hails from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but has been a proud member of the Houston community since 2017. She believes in a life of service and helping others enhance their potential by gaining knowledge, tools and resources.
Prior to joining The Women’s Resource, Shanquela studied at the Graduate College of Social Work, where she contributed to new and improved social programs and services. She has studied and interned abroad in Africa, Australia, and China.
Shanquela holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Shanquela enjoys volunteering, traveling the world, playing sports, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sabrina was born in Arizona, but was raised in Wharton, TX. She recently received her AA degree from HCC and plans to get a Bachelor's Degree in nursing, and eventually a Masters. She has been in Houston for 6 years. She enjoys helping and educating others. She also has a big family, and enjoys spending time with them and she enjoys watching and playing sports.
