RISE! Guest Speaker Training

Our RISE! volunteer guest speakers work with high school girls, grades 9th-12th.

We are looking for women with diverse backgrounds to talk with RISE! groups at Houston-area high schools. Classes are usually 60 minutes long between 8am and 3pm.

There are two speaking opportunities for RISE!:

  • Career Path Panel: A panel of two to three professionals discuss their career experiences with students. Coworkers and friends can volunteer together, or we will match you with other panelists.

  • Credit and Savings Speaker: Guest speakers will receive a copy of our ‘Credit and Saving Instructor Guide’ for this class. This opportunity is best suited for one person or a two-person team.

To be able to participate as a RISE! guest speaker, you must first go through training. RISE! Guest Speaker training is offered bi-annually and is required to become a RISE! volunteer.  During this one and a half-hour training you will learn techniques for engaging high school students, how to sign-up for RISE! volunteer opportunities, and an overview of the RISE! curriculum.

We help women and girls make choices toward becoming independent, productive and financially stable. In our programs, women acquire the essential financial knowledge, skills and confidence they need to make sound decisions and improve their lives - for themselves and for generations to come.
