YourLife Program Manager

Background

In 1990, a group of visionary women established The Women’s Resource on the founding belief that a woman who controls her finances controls her destiny.  We fulfill our mission by offering YourLife Finance programs for women and our RISE! (Your Road to Independence, Success, and Empowerment) program for high school girls. YourLife Finance Classes (YLFC) teach women fundamental financial concepts around budgeting, saving, credit management, and debt. We also offer financial coaching through YourLife Possibility Groups (YLPG) and YourLife Coaching (YLC) to guide and support women as they work toward their financial goals. We believe these valuable life lessons are best learned young and created RISE! to address this need as early as possible in a young woman’s life. 
 
Position Description

The YourLife Program Manager is essential to the success of the organization. The YourLife Program Manager manages the organization’s YourLife Finance Class program and YourLife Possibility Group program, working collaboratively with community organizations, volunteers and leadership to ensure program success. 
 

Volunteer Management

  • Direct all aspects of volunteer management for YLFC and YLPG programs – identification, recruitment, communication, evaluation, recognition, and retention.

  • Ensure YLFC Volunteer Instructors and YLPG Volunteer Coaches are properly trained and supported and provide on-going opportunities for them to acquire new skills and knowledge. 

  • Manage YL program observations.

  • Utilize Salesforce to schedule, record and disseminate volunteer opportunities.

  • Observe YLFC and YLPG at regular intervals.

  • Teach financial education classes and serve as a financial coach for YLPG. 

  • Motivate and encourage volunteers; provide critical feedback and resolve issues or conflict as they arise. 

  • Ensure YLPG Volunteer Coaches are effective in their delivery and capturing full and accurate data. 

  • Work collaboratively with the RISE! team, Administrative team and Development team to create a volunteer program that is cohesive across organizational efforts. 

 
Program Management  

  • Plan and manage the day to day operations of YL Finance Classes and YL Possibility Groups.

  • Manage changes made to YL Finance Class curriculum and YL Possibility Group curriculum.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with appropriate partner agency staff. Keep abreast of staff and programmatic changes that may affect the delivery of programs.

  • Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate the delivery of all YL programs.

  • Make recommendations to begin new partnerships and end existing partnerships. 

Evaluation

  • Manage distribution and collection of program evaluation tools (i.e. class surveys, budget/credit forms). 

  • Ensure accuracy of data through the collection and data entry process.

  • Utilize Salesforce to identify gaps and trends and make recommendations for program updates and/or best practices.

  •  Generate and complete reports for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) discussions and grant reports. 

 
Overall

  • Engage in continuous quality improvement, learning and training.

  • Actively participate on The Women’s Resource Program Committee. 

  • Report to and work closely with the Senior Program Director.

  • Ensure programs are delivered in a high-quality manner.

  • Ensure annual program goals and objectives are met. 

  • Ensure safety and confidentiality standards are met. 

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor degree required.

  • Highly motivated, resourceful individual.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  

  • Self-directed, independent worker who takes initiative and is able to solve problems.  

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.  

  • Experience working with various stakeholders.  

  • Attention to detail, accuracy in reporting and ability to respond to deadlines on time.

  • Ability to develop programs and leverage/create the resources necessary to support them.  

  • Professional that works with poise, confidence and team-oriented approach.  

  • Understanding of how financial education/coaching affects an individual.  

  • Flexible and positive attitude, sense of humor, patience, character and integrity.  

  • Non-profit experience or demonstrated thorough understanding of the field.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Must have reliable transportation. 

 
The ideal candidate will have experience in two or more of the following:

  • Financial coaching

  • Financial education and/or asset building

  • Volunteer management 

  • Project planning from conception to completion 

  • Experience in community/neighborhood-based programs

Full-time Position: Competitive/commensurate with experience and other qualifications

RISE! Facilitator

We also offer financial coaching through YourLife Possibility Groups (YLPG) and YourLife Coaching (YLC) to guide and support women as they work toward their financial goals. We believe these valuable life lessons are best learned young and created RISE! to address this need as early as possible in a young woman’s life.

RISE! (Your Road to Independence, Success and Empowerment) is a four-year program that helps high school girls realize their potential, identify their personal values, manage personal finances, recognize their leadership skills and plan for their future goals. It is the only program in Houston for high school girls that combines the life skills training necessary for leadership and professional success with the financial education that is critical for personal success.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver RISE! Curriculum at assigned RISE! school location on a weekly basis at assigned day/time.

  • Follow all RISE! school location rules and requirements

  • Communicate effectively with diverse populations to include: partner schools, program participants, and volunteer guest speakers

  • Meet with The Women's Resource (TWR) RISE! Program Manager and other facilitators for meetings and trainings throughout the semester

  • Review weekly lesson and prepare materials before each RISE! class and be able to adapt the lesson plans to fit the individual school environment

  • Pick up and drop off RISE! materials and resources for classes at TWR

  • Discuss openly with The Women's Resource RISE! Program Manager and other facilitators, any problems, solutions, and improvements for an optimal RISE! experience

  • Be at your assigned school at least 30 minutes early each week  

  • Ensure quality of the class(s) you are facilitating by encouraging attendance, engaging participants in each lesson and addressing any problems as they arise

  • Follow RISE! curriculum as presented in the facilitator notebook

  • Show an interest in and get to know each participant

  • Submit data, including attendance within 24 hours of each class

  • Review required forms with RISE! participants and ensure they are turned in to the RISE! Program Manager in a timely manner

  • Observe other RISE! Facilitators during the semester

Qualifications

  • Must enjoy working with high school girls. Prior experience working with teens is a plus.

  • The ability to demonstrate patience, professionalism, and tact in interpersonal communication.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, patience, character and integrity.

  • Flexible and able to adjust schedule and lessons as needed.

  • Dependability and accountability are a must.

  • Ability to recognize strengths in individuals and systems, and motivate others.

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Open to female undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, post graduates and/or females who are mid-career

  • References are required, along with a background check  Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus

Position Opening Date: Immediately 

 

The RISE! Facilitator position is a part-time, contract position. We are currently hiring for the 2019-2020 school year, but are looking for qualified applicants with an interest to continue in the position beyond this next academic year. The RISE! Facilitator position includes a Facilitator Orientation, four hours of lesson preparation and followup time each week, 60-90 minutes of classroom time, travel time to and from the RISE! location each week, and two Facilitator meetings each semester.
